During this first semester of school, we will be studying author's purpose, main idea and details, compare and contrast, folktales and fairytales, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, a unit on Matter, Seasons and Weather, units in numbers, fact families, measurements, and many more exciting things.
I would encourage you to spend at least 15 minutes every evening to read to your child. This is a very important step in fostering a love of reading and learning.
Homework is listed in your child's planner on a daily basis. Also, there is a weekly schedule of the Language Arts homework in the left side of the homework folder.
Welcome to the start of a new school year! This year is going to be a very special one, as we've added some extra music to our classroom. Mr. Weitzner, my team teacher will be playing the guitar, and I will be using various percussion instruments as an accent. We will be singing songs to help us remember the facts we learn about subjects like Ancient China, Ancient Egypt, the Water Cycle, and many more. Children seem to remember the facts about a subject when they have a melody to jog their memory. Please feel free to contact me via email or telephone should you have any questions or concerns about your child.
