Reminders
It is almost time for spring break! Before we know it summer vacation will be here. The children have grown and learned so much this year. They are all so excited about learning how to read. Please continue to read and discuss books with your child every day. It really does make a difference. Also, please continue to help your child :
  • Identify and write all capital and lower case letters
  • Identify words that begin or end with the following sounds--m, b, s, t, f, c, p, n, a, i , h, r, l, d, g, o, k, and w. 
  • Write their first and last name with capital letters only at the beginning 
  • Identify the vocabulary words that have been introduced 
  • Draw a picture and write a sentence about the picture 
  • Discuss the characters, setting, and important things that happened in stories they read or have read to them
The letter sounds that will be introduced in March and April are j, v, q, e, x, and y. The vocabulary words for March and April are do, not, what, just, keep, after, one, two, three, out, come, made, red, yellow, and blue.
 
In math, please help your child practice these skills:
  • Count orally to 100 
  • Count by 5's to 100 and 2's to 20 
  • Identify and write numbers to 100, count objects to 20 
  • Count backwards from 20  
  • Recognize and tell the value of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter 
  • Telling and solving addition and subtraction word problems
