PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING:
This testing begins on October 1, 2006 and goes throughout the year. Students will be tested on upper-body strength (example: pull-ups, push-ups), abdominal strength (curl-ups), cardiovascular endurance (mile run/walk), and flexibility (v-sit and reach). Please encourage your child(ren) to practice these fitness areas as often as they would like to do them. The practice will help them when they take the tests and may help them on their path to lifetime wellness and fitness.
To an action-packed year of Physical Education. We will be working on the skills of catching, throwing, fitness, kicking, tumbling, dance, and non-manipulative skills.
All students in grades 1-5 have PE each day for 30 minutes. Students have 15 minutes of Recess each day. Kindergarten classes have PE and Recess with the PE Specialist and PE Staff every other day. On the days that Kindergarten classes are not with the PE Staff, they have PE and Recess with their Classroom Staff Person.
All students should come to PE/Recess with rubber sole shoes that tie, velcro, buckle, etc., the child's whole foot should be supported by the shoe. Safety first!!! Thank You.
